ask mommy: Bernhard Finkbeiner and Hans-Jörg Brekle had the idea for a housekeeping and cooking web site in summer 2003. They hung out and needed something to eat. After visiting a supermarket they chose to cook boiled potatoes, mexican vegetables and European Wieners. But they did not have a clue about how to boil potatoes (they were bachelors who just moved out a year ago – so what are you expecting?). So what did they do? They did the one thing that every young man would do in this situation: Hans-Jörg called his mom who told us how to boil potatoes.
After getting off the phone it struck us. Although boiling potatoes is pretty easy, they did not know how. That had to change! So they founded the German website “www.frag-mutti.de” (“ask mommy”). They knew: boiling potatoes was one of the easiest things – but they did not know how. We wanted to change this circumstance… Things are getting started…
The German website was launched in September 2003. The English version askmommy.org exists since spring 2006.
